Background to the NAI

The Netherlands Arbitration Institute was founded in 1949 as an independent, non-profit organisation. The NAI has no connection with the government, nor does it receive any subsidy.

The NAI’s activities are based on the 1986 Arbitration Act (articles 1020 - 1076 of the Code of Civil Procedure) and are laid down in the 2001 Arbitration Rules.
