How is a request for arbitration submitted to the NAI?
The request for arbitration should contain certain information as specified in the Rules.
The application (five copies) must be submitted to the Secretariat (additional copies will be required if there is more than one respondent).
A copy of the arbitration agreement must be submitted with the request. If this is an arbitration clause in a sizeable contract, it may be sufficient to submit the page showing the names of parties, the page with the text of the arbitration clause and the page on which the contract has been signed.
No specific form is required; a simple letter will suffice. The request may be brief. It is intended to introduce the arbitral procedure and is not a statement of claim. This is not submitted until after the arbitrator(s) has/have been appointed.
